Obscura Day in St. Petersburg

Obscura (latin) – secret, mysterious, muddy

On March, 20th in dozens places of our terrestrial geleoid the international celebration of wondrous, curious, and esoteric places will take place - Obscura Day 2010.

Our Subpolar capital of Russia does not remain away from this important event.

Scientists still unsure – what more in this city – ducks-krjakunov or apartments with ghosts.

Also the Vasilevsky island in general (according to recent researches of the Fund of Preservation of the Cultural Heritage (Papua-New Guinea) included into the first ten places where the culture of fire worshippers-cannibals presented the most full.

There, in Vasilevsky island enigmatic courtyards, the main event of the Obscura Day 2010 will take place – one-day open-air conference «a Code of Universe: New Approaches considering marshiness of the District».

Organizers of the Conference:

the Society of Mystical Culture of Petersburg and Atlas Obscura.

The equipotential Triangle with tops in the Tower of Griffins, the Courtyard of Spirits and a hidden place in vicinities of Kunstkamera is formed by the Organizing Committee.

This will be the places of the plenary meetings and following discussions.

The initial research thesis will be discussed during this Conferences - a Code of a Universe (X) is Y/Z, where Y - the exact site of the Courtyard of Spirits (its digital equivalent in Google Maps), and Z - date of an expected Doomsday. And if Z – the well-known number, rather for Y there are numerous hypotheses offered by various groups of researchers are exists.

The important part of plenary reports (as well as the Conference' discussions) will be devoted to this problematic area.

We invite proposals for papers that address these questions and the broad theme of the conference.

We particularly welcome papers which explore the interface between the bogs, enigmatic courtyards and a Code of Universe, and which are interdisciplinary and innovative in method and approach.

Individual paper proposals (max. 200 words) or proposals for panels (max. 300 words) should be submitted by 16 March to the Organizing Committee via e-mail.

Formation of the Research Column and the beginning of Celebratory Movement the groups of scientists to the Conference sites will be started from the nearest metro station Vasileostrovskaya at noon March, 20.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

We also welcome sacral district maps. Welcome guests will be as well multi-coloured rats - at the frames of the cultural program of the Conference, we will remember the memory of the Great Martyr of Panticapaeum.
